Evaluation
When printing my trend and styling boards, I was disappointed by the quality of the University printers, I feel that the colours look dull and there are marks on the paper from where they have been through the printer. The picture quality doesn't look great either, even though I sourced my photos at the highest resolution I could, and edited them in photoshop correctly, I feel that the bad printing is to blame for this. So if I had to print any of this again, I would print it on Photo paper to make sure the colour came out correctly and so my photos looked sharp.
Overall, I have enjoyed this project- researching new and old trends, looking at forecasting sites, blogging (which Ive never done before and would like to continue) and styling my own photo shoot. The only thing I didn't enjoy was printing everything out!
Styling Board- Romantic Pastels
Styling Board- Eastern Promise
This is my final styling board for my Eastern Promise trend. I used the big image on the right because I feel that it shows a pose that would be taken by a tribal leader, chin high, showing power and poise. The other two are very strong poses, that i imagine would a strong woman of a tribe would take, she would look strong and powerful. I added a colour pallet to show the main colour trend in my photos- most come from the poncho.
I arranged my board in this way to show a big strong image that represents my trend, and the other two reiterate it. I feel that the images work really well together and I'm happy with how they have turned out. I set my styling board out in a clean and simple way so that its easily readable and the trend concept and colour can shine through. If i where to do this again, I would source more outfits and maybe change accessories in each picture. Because even though I did have different outfits and tried them out, I feel that this outfit represents my trend the best.
Examples of tribal women found from Pinterest. I love these images, these women are so strong and inspirational. I wanted my models poses to come across as strong as these women!

Inspiration
I really liked this pose that I found in a shoot in ASOS magazine. I want to try it out for my pastel trend. As I want it to look fun and youthful.

ASOS summer magazine
Pastels are featured in ASOS' s summer magazine that I received this morning. A marc jacobs advertisement shows pastel pink jewellery and watches, showing pastels coming in to summer in the way of accessories. There is also a double paged spread on how to wear pastels- mixing them up with matalics and neon colours. There are 4 different looks for differemt occasions 2 casual and 2 for going out. This tips page is really good for advice on how to wear pastels in a different way, mixing trends up and being a bit more adventurous. The last page on pastels shows a mint green pastel colour mixed with stick on gems and pearls- adding girly glamour to any outfit.

Target market of Pastel trend
I think that pastels will be evident in most shops that follow trends closely- e.g. topshop, miss selfridge (for younger people who want to be daring or very girly) and M&S, oasis and warehouse (for mature women who want to appear classy and dress age appropriate)
The more mature woman can still follow the trend by using statement pieces, such as statement trousers or jewellery, if she didn't feel confident enough to wear all pastel. Although I think that a pastel pant suit is very flattering for s/s as its fresh and can make you appear more youthful. You just have to be careful about how you wear it- wearing a fitted statement blazer can be flattering and on trend.- shown by the catwalk picture below.
Paramore- new video
I was watching the some music videos and came across a new video from the band Paramore. the whole video features pastel colours- mutes pinks, purples, blues and yellows are used in the background. while the band members where brighter pastel colours- as you can see the lead singer has pink and orange hair. she also has a blazer on that mixes pastel pink and blue, paired with a high waisted pale pink skater skirt (which is bang on trend this season)
This video shows how pastels are a big trend this year, and forecasting shows that it will be a reoccurring trend next year.
I love the layout of the set on the left- how the birthday cakes all have pastel icing on, mixed with the pastel colours of the decor! (if i could have a room like this i would!) its so light and fresh- showing that pastel
colours work on furnature and decor, aswell as garments.
Valentino pre-summer 2013- Vogue
Valentino also used bright pastel colours in his collection, making them feminine by mixing them with florals and lace, making them classic and elegant, inspired by the 1920's, but made more modern by using vibrant pastels instead of muted ones. The lace and florals link with the romantic style of the garment, making it really girly. The high necklines where also typical in the 20's to cover up the body- mainly the bust, which is how women of that era used to dress (covering their modesty) as most people where religious and it was 'the done thing'.
I love the matching pastel clutch bags that match the corresponding outfits- using the same colour- bringing out the colour in the garment that has been muted by the overlay of white lace (this creates a very classic garment)
Salvatore Ferragamo- Pre S/S 13- Vogue
Ferragamo used pastels in his pre summer collection, mixed with a lot of snake print- bringing a contemporary twist to pastel colour. the snake skin print goes really well with pastel colours, because its a soft fluid print, when mixed with the pastel colour, the 2 tone effect looks really nice on a garment, creating a statement piece which can be worn by all ages.
M. Patmos- pre S/S 13- Vogue
Patmos used this beautiful mint green pastel colour in her pre summer collection. its clean and fresh, perfect for spring. this colour goes great with white, creating a simple look, the white also makes the green pop, especially when used as a statement piece.

Rachel Zoe- Pre S/S 13- Vogue
Channel Catwalk WGSN
Dior catwalk WGSN
Dior features Mint green, peach and a pale pink pastel colours in his new collection.
The bottom 2 dresses also remind me of the pale pink ball-gown that i found when researching 50's glamour, but instead of the skirt extending out from the waist, they extend from the hips. giving them a more contemporary twist to the 50's style.
The picture on the left shows a pale pink dress, embroidered with orange cluster beads on the right side, also paired with bright orange tights, taking a new spin on the pastel trend but also keeping it quite simple.
