I think that the Pastel trend can be adapted to be suited for all ages. Younger people can use vibrant pastel colours, mix them up and experiment with them. This year pastels have been adapted to hair colour and makeup- this could carry on to next year- and be used by younger people daring enough to try it.
I think that pastels will be evident in most shops that follow trends closely- e.g. topshop, miss selfridge (for younger people who want to be daring or very girly) and M&S, oasis and warehouse (for mature women who want to appear classy and dress age appropriate)
The more mature woman can still follow the trend by using statement pieces, such as statement trousers or jewellery, if she didn't feel confident enough to wear all pastel. Although I think that a pastel pant suit is very flattering for s/s as its fresh and can make you appear more youthful. You just have to be careful about how you wear it- wearing a fitted statement blazer can be flattering and on trend.- shown by the catwalk picture below.
